Consuming about 5% of calories from protein is hard to avoid if you are eating sufficient food to meet your daily calorie requirements. All plant foods include protein, and even if you ate a diet of only white rice, which is not recommended you would still end up with 8% protein for the day! But would it be the right kind of protein?
Proteins are complex molecules made by assembling simple building blocks (amino acids) together in a chain (polypeptide chain).
